The cancel of July 4th Interdependence March was led by Unite NY and began at Madison Square Park. The focus of the march was to traverse through the city, stopping at all major parks and memorials to highlight each location's connection and history with Black people. Stops included Washington Square Park and Foley Square. The march culminated at Empire Fulton Ferry Park in Brooklyn.

The group started off with a couple hundred people. But as we headed south toward Lower Manhattan, other organizers and groups pulled up: Freedom March, Warriors in the Garden, Musicians United NYC and other independent activists were there. Those folks brought their people along with them, and by the time we reached Foley Square, the protest had reached more than a thousand people.

This image was captured somewhere in Chinatown. The front of the procession had stopped for minute, but Justin Withers, the brother in the shot, was leading the call and response, was standing out in front alone chanting, "Mama, mama don't you see | What the system's done to me | They locked us up, they put us down | Ain't no justice in this town".
